EKPF Participates in ERKNet’s European Meeting to Strengthen the Voice of Rare Kidney Disease Patients
The annual meeting of ERKNet, the European Rare Kidney Disease Reference Network, was held in Leuven, Belgium. This important forum brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, and patient organizations from across Europe with the shared goal of improving the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care of rare kidney diseases.
Some of our entities, like ALCER were present at the event reaffirming EKPF’s strong commitment to international collaboration and the defense of the rights of individuals affected by rare kidney conditions. A key moment during the meeting was the leadership role taken by Susana Carvajal, a prominent representative from the Spanish patient association Hipofam and an active collaborator within EKPF. Carvajal led the European Patient Advocacy Group within ERKNet, coordinating efforts among multiple organizations to strengthen the patient voice within the network. Her contributions were instrumental in articulating shared proposals and priorities across patient associations from different countries.
Participation in this type of European initiative allows EKPF to continue advancing its mission of improving the quality of life for people living with kidney disease, while also promoting innovation, equity, and cross-border cooperation in the field of rare and complex conditions.
