TTVguideTX: Promising Results for Personalised Kidney Transplant Care
The EU-funded TTVguideTX project has published promising results that could help personalise immunosuppressive treatment after kidney transplantation.
The study involved 260 kidney transplant recipients across six European countries and investigated whether measuring Torque Teno Virus (TTV) levels could help doctors adjust immunosuppressive medication more precisely.
Results showed that TTV-guided treatment was safe in the patients studied, with lower tacrolimus exposure and no observed increase in infections or organ rejection.
These findings represent an encouraging step towards more personalised care, although further research is needed.
