The European Kidney Patients’ Federation (EKPF) took part in the 53rd EDTNA/ERCA International Conference, held in Porto, Portugal, from October 11–14, 2025.

EKPF President Daniel Gallego participated in the session “CKD-associated pruritus: Voicing the unseen – Nursing strategies to restore quality of life in dialysis”, where he presented his talk “Beyond the itch – Living with CKD-aP and its real burden.”

His contribution highlighted the real-life impact of chronic kidney disease–associated pruritus (CKD-aP) on patients’ wellbeing and emphasised the importance of raising awareness, early recognition, and multidisciplinary approaches to improve quality of life for people on dialysis.

The EDTNA/ERCA Conference is one of the most important annual gatherings for kidney care professionals and patient representatives, fostering dialogue and collaboration to promote equitable kidney care across Europe.
