EKPF in the KDIGO Controversies Conference on Maintaining Kidney Health and Preventing CKD
The KDIGO Controversies Conference took place from December 1 to 3 in Rome, focusing on the maintenance of Kidney Health and the prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Daniel Gallego, President of the National ALCER Federation, actively participated in the Patient Panel Discussion, providing insights from the patient’s experience. KDIGO’s mission is to enhance global kidney disease care by coordinating and developing clinical guidelines. The conference underscored the need to shift the focus from managing CKD to preventing it, highlighting the lack of attention to maintaining kidney health, especially in the early stages of CKD. Recent data presented demonstrated that interventions before the onset of the disease can effectively preserve kidney health.
